Paypal Has a Lot of Updates Lately, But Are They Still the Best?

What’s New And How Do They Compare to the Competition?

– In Paypal’s newest updates in the past few months, they hope that the experience for you is closer to like using the app for a bank account

-Paypal will be adding a savings feature so that it works like a savings account at a bank account

-The New Paypal App looks more like the front page of your bank account, but with your crypto balances added

-Direct deposits, shopping tabs for in store discounts, and rewards are all featured in the new design.  It feels more like a one stop shop to take care of everything, not just banking related.

-The initial reviews for the new Paypal features are getting high praise from users who like the new setup that isn’t just focused on sending and receiving money anymore.

Bill Pay, Direct Deposits, and Savings are Features that act more like a bank account.

When first using the new app, I noticed that this really didn’t feel like the old Paypal anymore.  I can buy and hold crypto now?   I get shopping discounts and rewards now?  I can have a savings account and do direct deposits like a bank account now?  Between my other discount apps like Honey and Capital One Savings, and my bank account apps and my crypto wallets, they all have different logins and and are pretty dispersed around my phone and computer.

Ideally, all of these services in one place would be beautiful.  Normally I found Paypal to be annoying in the past, as I always had to do extra steps to do anything.  It felt like everything was always ” 10 clicks away” instead of what the internet is supposed to be, one click away.

But with this new setup, this actually might be more efficient. Overall here’s my reviews of the features of the new Paypal App:

Shopping Discounts – Not as good and easy as Honey or Capital One, requires to have it setup and be in Paypal, but there are a lot of places that I noticed that Capital One did not have like certain hotels and airlines.

Overall rating – 3.5 Stars out of 5

Savings –  I’m not sure why I would want to manage my savings from a place where I’m not doing my other investments.  But if your only investments are savings and crypto, then this is quite convenient. I also like the idea to promote people to save money and use the money for positive things in the future.

Crypto – Paypal should have done this a long time ago and I’m a big fan of crypto.  They NEEDED to provide some competition to ripoff services like CoinBase which charges obscene fees.

Overall rating – 5 Stars out of 5

Bill Pay and Direct Deposits – Finally!  If I am going to login to Paypal to manage things, at least make everything work in one place.  I hate having to login to my bank and back and forth.  This is such a great idea and actually makes Paypal a place where you can manage almost everyone from one console.  Ease of use and organization are the main plus.

Overall rating – 5 Stars out of 5

Overall,  I am really happy that the New Paypal is finally catching up with all the other payment services like Venmo and Banks and Crypto wallets/services.  I don’t like having to manage so many different ones and I like my life to be easily organized without having to constantly stress about where everything is.  Paypal is no longer just a send and receive money service!
