Amazon is hiking the price of its “Prime” membership, and some users are not happy about the price increase. Do you want to know the new Amazon prime membership price? Continue to learn more including the added features.
How much is Amazon Prime now?
Amazon Prime subscribers will see the membership cost shift from today as the retail giant announces subscription prices will increase by over $10 per year.
The increase will affect both customers who pay monthly, along with customers paying the popular yearly one-time fee.
Amazon offered this service at $7.99 per month, and $79 when paying upfront. But from September 15, this will increase to $8.99 per month, and $95 when paying upfront – meaning that customers paying with a monthly direct debit will now be billed $107.88 annually.
This increase will affect all customers, so if you’ve been contemplating signing up for Amazon Prime, you should be ready to come on board.
The Prime service offers unlimited shipping of millions of items per day, along with access to over two million songs on Prime Music and thirty thousand movies and Tv shows on the Prime Video streaming service.
There’s also access to exclusive “Lightning” deals where subscribers will gain early access to certain special deals before non-subscribers.
“Our Prime service provides the best customer shopping and entertainment experience. We’ve continually increased the availability of products with unlimited shipping, speedy grocery delivery, and an extensive range of top-quality digital experiences, such as Tv, music, movies, games, and books. With the rising global inflation and increasing costs of operations in the United Kingdom, we have no choice but to increase the price of Prime,” an Amazon spokeswoman said.
Why is Amazon hiking its prices?
Earlier in April, the retail giant included a 5% surcharge on its delivery fees in an attempt to tackle the effects of surging fuel costs and inflation. The fee applies to American traders using Amazon’s logistics network to deliver items.
“We expected things to return to normal in 2022 as COVID restrictions around the world began to ease, but inflation and fuel prices have further presented challenges for the company,” the company said in a statement released in April.
The effects of the pandemic have added to the struggles between Amazon and its millions of third-party sellers, whose items make up over 50% of units sold on Amazon’s e-commerce in the last quarter.
Most of Amazon’s strategies are being directed toward enhancing its inventor and reducing its cost of logistics as the company was faced with an inventory full of immovable products during the Coronavirus crisis in 2020.
In a message released in April, the company claimed to have its logistics under control by employing over 700 thousand new workers, increasing employee wages, and rapidly enlarging its network of warehouses.
Conclusion
Amazon Prime’s price increase may not be the best news out there, but we need to note that it’s just one dollar for the monthly payments and six dollars for the upfront fee.
Even though some people think it’s expensive, a lot of Amazon subscribers seem to be cool with it.
