To everyone’s surprise, Elon Musk is claiming Twitter’s previous management is responsible for reinstating the account of the controversial rapper and fashion designer, Ye.

Elon Musk Says Ye’s Twitter Account Was Restored Without His Knowledge

On his first full day as Twitter’s owner, Elon Musk says Twitter had restored the account of Ye formerly known as Kanye West. The Tesla CEO says the action was already in place before he completed the billion-dollar bid to buy Twitter.

“Twitter did not inform me about this decision,” he says.

Musk has also said the company is preparing to form a “non-corrupt content moderation committee consisting of individuals with diverse worldviews.”

Earlier this month, Twitter banned Ye’s account following an antisemitic post he made on the platform that threatened Jewish people.

The rapper said he would be “going death con three on Jewish people.” Interestingly, Mr. Ye explained to a different degree that it would be impossible to regard him as anti-Semitic because he’s “black, and black people are also Jews.”

In the meantime, Musk says the company will withhold from restoring suspended accounts or making significant content moderation decisions until the board convenes.

Meta’s Reaction to Ye’s Comments

Meta, formerly Facebook, also set restrictions on Ye’s Instagram account following his comments earlier this month.

Upon returning to Instagram, the former billionaire posted:

“I LOST $2 Bn IN ONE DAY, AND I’M STILL ALIVE.”

“…THE MONEY ISN’T WHO I AM; THE PEOPLE IS WHO I AM.”

Twitter’s New Leadership

Musk completed the Twitter purchase on Thursday night and decided to take the company private. In line with his new vision, Musk laid off Twitter’s Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and top legal and policy executive – signaling a new path for the microblogging platform.

“I bought Twitter because of its importance to humankind’s future. Civilizations of humanity will always need a shared digital space, where a diverse range of beliefs and viewpoints can be healthily debated,” Musk wrote.

“However, I’m not promising to build a free-for-all hellscape where people can say anything without facing the consequences.”

Musk has also said he dreams of a Twitter that provides a “chosen experience” built upon the user’s preferences, like how video games offer choices.

Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s top legal executive, who played a vital role in getting Mr. Trump off the platform, is yet to publicly express her views on the consequences of Musk’s ownership.

Meanwhile, on the Truth Social platform on Friday, Mr. Trump posted: I am now happy that Twitter is finally in safe hands and is no longer being managed by far-left lunatics.

Summary

Although he said the platform would not make any content decisions until the new Twitter moderation concludes, Musk tweeted that all individuals banned for “minor and dubious” reasons will be freed from “Twitter Jail.”

Many users are wondering whether Twitter’s new “Elon Vision” will include reinstating the account of former U.S president Donald Trump, who had a role in instigating the January 6 capitol insurrection event. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
