Google tries to expand itself in every sector of life whether it is finance, music streaming, an OTT platform, book reading, and many more. Google is termed as the safer option among the other third-party vendors by its customers and others.
Tech giant Google has launched Google Play music on the year 2011 to give its users a song streaming platform and entered the race alongside others. Google has also launched youtube music in 2015 and both the platforms are working and doing extremely well. But almost a decade after the Play music launch Google has announced that play music will be discontinued and youtube music will take its place and users can transfer their data from play music to youtube music before the deadline. After play music discontinuation youtube music has been under the main focus of Google to make it best for its users.
Youtube Music has been the odd one out among almost all the music streaming applications like Spotify, Amazon Music, Wynk music, etc. as it gives you a feature of video streaming of songs you play for all { for free listeners as well as for premium users}. But like others, Google has entered the same flow by giving video streaming features a tagline i.e. ‘exclusively for premium costumers’. You tube on its community forums announced that youtube music will block video streaming options for free listeners. Youtube music is becoming audio-only for free listeners. This change will first roll out in Canada from November 3. Users who don’t have the youtube music premium or youtube premium will not get on-demand music selection and unlimited skips.
Google said, “Last week, we shared with our YouTube Music listeners{ in blog post} that background play will soon be available in Canada, free of charge, beginning on November 3, 2021. Alongside this update, some features will become exclusive to YouTube Music Premium listeners.”
As earlier free users will enjoy the benefit of mood mixers for different activities like parties, workouts, sadness, etc. free listeners can also enjoy all songs streamed online without download as earlier with advertisement. Free listeners in the case have uploaded a piece of music in Youtube music can make only their songs fall in the list of on-demand.
These changes will be rolled out alongside with background play update announced by Google earlier this month. This update is also termed as Canada’s first move as these updates will be first available only in Canada from November 3. Canadian users will be the first who will be seeing this update on their mobile phones.
Earlier this week Google’s biggest rival Apple has announced a new plan for its music streaming Application. This plan would cost Rs. 49 per month and would give ad-free streaming, on-demand radio stations, can play any song by just giving orders to Siri and many more Apple would offer in this plan.
This subscription will however not let users get spatial audio, lossless audio, and access to music videos. This will only be in individual and family plans.
Youtube music has a lot of features compared to others especially the video streaming option free of cost and other options like downloads at a very reasonable rate as compared to others like Apple.
However, no changes have been made for the premium users and all the things for them will be like past.
