Samsung users should be happy to hear that the tech company is working to deliver Seamless Updates to its phones. The feature was first made available in 2016 on Google Pixels devices and is now available on many Android phones; however, Samsung Galaxy models have not yet received it.
The function enables you to use your phone in partition A, while an update is installed on partition B. After the installation, you can decide to restart your device.
An interview with the company’s vice president, Hyesoon Jeong, revealed that Samsung is trying to include Seamless Updates as one of OneUI 6’s features next year.

With Seamless Updates, you may continue using your phone while a new system update is deployed in the background on an inactive portion of your phone. Once the latest update has been installed on the dormant partition, you will be required to restart your device.
Unfortunately, Seamless updates require more storage capacity than the typical update method. And it appears that this is why corporations like Samsung have remained faithful to the original upgrade system until now.
Samsung One UI 6.0 and Seamless Updates
On October 12, Samsung conducted its annual developer conference, unveiling several new features for One UI 5, and said the Samsung S22 series would get the Android 13 operating system (OS) by the end of the month.
Following the presentation, a Samsung executive reportedly revealed that the firm is developing Seamless Updates, which might be unveiled alongside One UI 6.
Since none of the Samsung Galaxy phones now support Android’s Seamless Updates feature, you must wait 10 to 20 minutes before using your smartphone when it reboots into maintenance mode. But with the addition of this function, Samsung phones will download updates, install them in the background, and reboot once they are complete.
Google makes Seamless Updates mandatory.
It is reasonable to anticipate that the Samsung S23 series will have the functionality even before One UI 6 debuts next year because Google has declared Seamless Updates a required feature for every phone that launches with Android 13. It hasn’t been verified, though.
The 3,900mAh battery in the next Galaxy S23 will improve over the S22’s 2,800mAh battery. The display will be 6.1 inches and have full HD+ quality, which is essentially the same as the previous S22 phones, according to Samsung.
One UI isn’t coming to Chromebooks
Samsung currently offers One UI for their smartphones, tablets, and wearables. The company’s laptop also uses some of its design components. However, One UI will not be available on Samsung’s Chromebooks and TVs, according to the company’s vice president.
She further stated that One UI would continue to differ from the original Android UI in appearance. But both firms would try to incorporate as many of the functions as possible.
